Personalization Can Help You Sell More / Stand Out – Real Life Example

Just a quick little post today on how personalization can help your business sell more!

My wife and I recently decided that we needed a toy box to keep our 10 month old daughter’s toys somewhat organized in our living room.  Since my wife is the decorator of the house she did the shopping online and made the decision.

Her buying process involved going online to ask the recommendation of friends on various forums.  After much feedback, she received one recommendation that stood out:  a collapsible toy box from Leaps and Bounds.  It wasn’t necessarily the design of the toy box that sold her but rather the personalization option.  She could add our daughter’s name for no additional cost!!!  What a great idea!  So guess what, we bought it.

The lesson here is simple…

For retail/mail order types of businesses point of sale personalization can help you sell more of what you want to move!

So when considering a vinyl cutter and heat transfer vinyl, YES consider what you can make off of the lettering, but don’t overlook the fact that this tool will also help you sell more volume of existing inventory items.  Whether that’s t-shirts, shoes, bags, gloves or even a children’s item such as a toy box don’t discount the competitive edge personalization brings to the table.

After all Lillian Vernon built a business off of it – “Personalized Free – Always!” and I’m pretty sure Leaps and Bounds is seeing the benefits.

Here’s a photo of the toy box and my daughter Madalyn learning to stand up beside of it:)  We were very happy with the quality of the toy box and the personalization.
